Dues and Music Deposits

Music deposits will be collected starting with the first rehearsal. Please bring $25 in cash or check (preferable) for a deposit. The deposit is payable upon issuance of the music, is carried over from performance to performance, and will be fully refunded upon return of the music in an acceptable condition (so, no highlighters or dog-eared corners).

We’ve lost a lot of money in the past because our deposits did not cover unreturned music, so this year we will be more careful with the deposits and more diligent with unreturned music.

Membership dues are $40 per year, which cover the cost of accompaniment, insurance, and new music.

Audition Schedule

The auditions for new members will consist of three parts and should not last no more than 10 minutes:

  1. Vocal exercises to determine your voice range.
  2. Sight singing, probably from a hymnal, to determine how well you read music.
  3. A brief prepared piece of your choice to demonstrate how you sing with something you already know. This can be a hymn, a solo from another choir or church, a popular song, or whatever you’d like, so long as it demonstrates your voice as you would use it with a chorus. We will provide an accompanist.

All current members wishing to sing with the Chamber Singers also need to sing for Rob; this is so he can hear our voices and work to blend us in our concert arrangements. He really only needs to hear if our voices have changed, or not, and also to refresh his memory, so we’ll only need to schedule this for a brief 5 minutes per returning member.

Auditions are usually heard before or after Tuesday rehearsals.  Please contact Auditions to schedule an audition time.
